Other countries have taken a clear stand on Venezuela. Why hasn’t Canada?
There have been few more blatant examples of election theft than the one Nicolás Maduro and his United Socialist Party thugs are attempting in Venezuela – the more so for their efforts to pass off the whole thing as democracy as usual.
Usually dictators don’t bother holding a vote, or do so only under closely controlled conditions. But the Maduro regime was under pressure: it had agreed to hold free and fair elections last year in return for the lifting of U.S.-led sanctions on its oil exports. The sanctions had been reimposed early this year, after the main opposition leader, María Corina Machado, was prevented from running.
Still, it appears people were allowed to vote freely enough in the July 28 election. The votes were even counted with some degree of regularity. The regime just lied about the result.
So where exit polls had Edmundo González, Ms. Machado’s replacement as the candidate of the Democratic Unitary Platform, with 65 per cent of the vote, the official results had Mr. Maduro ahead by the narrowest of margins, with precisely 51.2 per cent of the vote.
Timid Canada? Not just Venezuela. Cowardly, fence sitting, holding up a wet finger to the political wind direction Canada is being run by weaklings. In this case the Toronto Police Service gets the gold medal. Even if directed to look the other direction by City Hall the police chief should grow a set and say no, you have no authority to order me to endanger the general public. The Chief knows full well that it is illegal to block or impede traffic in any fashion that endangers the general public.
Warmington is no amateur. He could have roasted the TPS, but he chose not to. He writes that the police claim that they stopped traffic in both directions for “safety reasons” for up to 30 minutes! That’s total BS. “If you were in a car, riding a bike or scooter, or on a bus or streetcar, there was nowhere to go from either direction”. The most important points he left out, emergency responders, police, fire and ambulances! To any reasonable person that constitutes exposing the public to unnecessary, including life threatening risk.
Imagine calling 911 when minutes genuinely can make a difference between life and death. Some thug is kicking down your door, your loved one is having a massive heart attack, your house is on fire, your child chocking to death (the list is long) and the dispatcher advises the terrified/hysterical caller that help will be delayed for half an hour (or very likely longer) because of this utter (and illegal) nonsense. Nonsense is exactly what this was.
Those involved in this ‘in your face’ display of imagined supremacy over non-Islam Canadian society knew full well what they were doing. So do the politicians and the police who crossed their fingers and chose to stand aside because it was the easy way out for them and literally gave these law flaunters a ‘blue check mark’.

Regarding the undeniably life threatening and illegal street blockage. An organized disruption of civil western society for no other reason than to make a point. That point was “Islam is superior and nothing is superior to it”. Why else would these people have chosen this location? There were other locations available nearby that wouldn’t have disrupted anything or anyone? Praying was the excuse. Using prayer gives them cover, license to label anyone who objects as Islamophobes and bigots. Two labels that are guaranteed to cause political and police leadership knees to go weak and back bones to turn to jelly.
Imagine. A church bell rings. A different religious group brings the downtown of a major city to a grinding halt in a similar fashion. Politicians and police would just shrug and say “it’s their right’? No, because increasing societal chaos would ensue. Nobody is calling for Muslims to be treated differently. Canadians are not the despicable bigots our PM has described them to the world as being. Quite to contrary, all that Canadian society wants is for all of us to be treated the same. As equals.
The cowed politicians and subservient, acceding police leadership are betraying their Sworn Oaths. They’ve all got mirrors in their houses. They know what is looking back at them. Sadly for Canada they’ve decided that their pensions are worth it.
Two tier policing. Another example of…
