We have seen the future of medicine and it’s at Humber River Hospital.
Humber River is the place where they’ve solved hallway medicine — helped along by the A.I. and machine intelligence at work in the facility’s Command Centre.
“Command Centre” may sound like something from the future, but it’s all about the here and now for patients and front-line, health-care workers.
Initially, the Command Centre was set up to keep the hospital running smoothly. It organized the flow of patients and treatments so efficiently, says hospital President and CEO Barbara Collins, “It gave us the equivalent of 35 extra beds.”
Now the Command Centre begins a phase two application that will revolutionize patient care. In a world first for Humber River hospital, the Command Centre monitors patient outcomes, using predictive analytics, real-time data and standardized early warning systems.
Think of it as backup to the hospital’s experienced front-line staff, allowing them to respond more quickly to the unexpected.
The goal is simple: better, faster, safer patient care.
