Defenders of the prime minister will argue he can’t possibly know about everything the government does in his name, including every scandal and every blunder. While that’s true, the reality is, as then U.S. President Harry Truman famously declared in the sign on his desk: “The Buck Stops Here.”

PM stumbles from scandal to scandal

As the Trudeau government lurches from scandal to scandal these days, it’s an appropriate moment to recall what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said as the newly-elected leader of the federal Liberals in October 2013.

He said on twitter, now known as X, that: “It’s hard not to feel disappointed in your government when every day there is a new scandal.”

Indeed.

In the same month, he also tweeted that:

“The Prime Minister needs to show leadership and take responsibility for the actions of the people he appointed and hired.”

Exactly.

Trudeau would be well-advised to heed his own words today.

This given his government’s ArriveCan scandal spreading into more and more federal departments, along with the release of previously secret documents revealing the extent of a massive security failure at Canada’s highest security biolab, in the hiring of two research scientists with alarming links to China.

And that’s to say nothing of his government’s proposed online harms legislation unveiled this week.

While it contains legitimate measures to combat the exploitation of children and “revenge porn” online, it also contains provisions which clearly attack free speech.

One of the most bizarre ideas is empowering judges to put people under house arrest on the grounds they might commit hate speech online at some point in the future — bringing to mind the concept of “precrime” made famous in the 2002 science fiction movie Minority Report directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise.

The drip, drip, drip of the successful Chinese infiltration/espionage (because that’s what it was) of Canada’s top security virology lab in Winnipeg. No information was shared outside Canada by these Chinese spies according to the government? If Canadians believe that then we have lost the country already. These two Chinese scientists are affiliated, whether directly or indirectly with the CCP, that makes them damned spies! Well, in common sense people’s minds. Who vetted these Chinese scientist spies before they were given Top Security clearances? How could they possibly remain undetected? Who’s doing the vetting, Barney Fife?

Once they got exposed these spies were “dismissed” and “escorted” off of the premises. Pretty much the same way as employees get treated after getting caught surfing internet pornography on company time. Not an unfair comparison. Well, except on this occasion the escort was our credibility beaten down RCMP. Canadians witnessing bell boys carrying luggage for illegals at Roxham Road and now HR escorts for Chinese spies is not exactly an image builder.

Does anybody doubt for a second how these two would have been dealt with were the circumstances been reversed? How does getting arrested, physically roughed up, thrown in jail and aggressively (that’s putting it mildly) interrogated for days, months, weeks or years sound? What other conclusion can Canadians possibly arrive at than this? It was more important to the Trudeau Liberals to try and cover up this massive failure and give up Canada’s national security interests to escape responsibility. Alas, their worst nightmare just came true. They got caught.

PM (in waiting) Pierre! Canada can’t afford to wait until 2025. Non-confidence vote this week specifying Trudeau and the demonstration of his unfitness to lead this country. Shine a bright light on the entire HOC. Force a PUBLIC vote. Do you choose Canada first or Party first? Force Trudeau to resign. Then politically perp walk him out the door.
