ANN Widdecombe delivered a thunderous reply to the suggestion the UK should remain closely aligned to the European Union post-Brexit.

Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe snapped on a Channel 5 Brexit debate over the type of deal the UK should leave the European Union with. Ms Widdecombe, who has repeatedly called for the UK to leave the EU without a deal at the end of this month, insisted a soft-Brexit “wasn’t on offer”. Responding to remarks from Labour MP Stephen Kinnock, the Brexit Party MEP pointed out the British people were given a clear choice of ‘Leave the EU’ or ‘Remain in the EU’.

Speaking on Channel 5’s ‘Live Brexit Debate – Deal or No Deal?’, the MEP raged: “You cannot say there was a mandate for a soft-Brexit. When a soft-Brexit wasn’t on offer.

“The nation was offered a very straight choice, you either stay or you go.”

Speaking later in the show, Ms Widdecombe said: “The country will gradually come together when Brexit is done.”
