DOWNING STREET has erupted in fury after Baroness Hale was caught “bragging” about her Supreme Court victory over Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Lady Hale was overheard telling the Association of State Girls’ Schools, “let’s hear it for the girly swots” – in reference to a comment Boris Johnson made about David Cameron – as she opened their leadership conference. The 74-year-old also spoke in front of a projector which read: “Spider woman takes down Hulk: Viewers transfixed by judge’s brooch as ruling crushes PM” as seen in a photo posted on Twitter by Tes News.
She also told listeners her number one piece of advice to young women is: “Don’t let the b******* get you down!”
Government sources quickly accused Lady Hale, President of the Supreme Court which ruled Mr Johnson’s decision to prorogue parliament unlawful in a landmark case, of a “lack of judgement”.
A government source told Alex Wickham, senior political correspondent at Buzz Feed: “The independence of the judiciary and their slideshow choices is not something we can question.”
