These days our headlines seem to be filled with angry females, from a tearful Greta Thunberg lecturing the UN on how we’re all doomed – to Jess Phillips virtually lapel-strangling Boris Johnson in the House of Commons. The late Jo Cox even cropped up in a Commons debate where we were told that the language of Brexiteers was endangering lives. Of course they ignore the inflammatory nature of the language used against leavers (I’m thinking of changing my name to “Gammon faced neo-Nazi fascist b*stard” to cut out the middleman).
How sorry I feel for Greta – a kid that has been systematically brainwashed by her Antifa activist parents into believing that the world is plummeting into eco-disaster. If her performance in New York seemed legitimate, it should be noted that her father is an actor and her grandfather is an actor and director. The 2020 Oscars need an additional category for best performance in apocalyptic prophecy speech. One of her supporters – Bjorn Lomborg – has called for the abandonment of democracy because, apparently, the environment will fare better under a dictatorship where car ownership, meat-eating and foreign travel can effectively be rationed – interestingly, the Labour Party conference in Brighton struck an identical chord.
After a suspiciously unanimous Supreme Court decision overturned Boris Johnson’s proroguing of parliament last week, we were of course treated to a popcorntastic performance art exhibit of snarling remainers being swatted like flies by nonchalant giants Geoffrey Cox and Boris Johnson. Jess Phillips apparently had a full-on finger-wagging meltdown outside of the chamber which unfortunately the cameras didn’t capture, but which no doubt had Boris’ security detail reaching for their Glocks.
Amusing as all this theatre might be, there is a serious point to these apparently unconnected episodes…
