Ontario cottage prices hit average of $800K. Here’s what that can buy you in different areas
Across Ontario, cottage prices fell in the first quarter of the year, but real estate experts say they’re likely to start rising again. Throughout nine different markets, prices averaged around $820,000.
Regions varied greatly in selling prices — the lowest average price in the first quarter came from Kenora and Lake-of-the-Woods, where cottages sold for approximately $340,000. Meanwhile, Lake Simcoe prices sold for an average $1,800,000.
Overall, sale prices dropped between five and 60 per cent in the first quarter of 2023 compared with 2022, according to a Re/Max Canada report, but experts have told the Star that they’re expecting seasonal activity — and costs — to start picking up again.
Here’s what you can buy with a budget of $820,000 in Ontario’s cottage country.
