Doug Ford is days late and a ton of credibility short on blockades...
‘It’s never too late to do the right thing. But it’s difficult to do it it belatedly and still claim to be a leader.’

When it comes to handling the blockade crisis in Ontario, Premier Doug Ford is many days late and a ton of credibility short.

On Friday, Ford declared a state of emergency in the province, imploring those occupying Ottawa and blocking international bridges in Windsor and Sarnia to go home and take their kids with them.

He threatened fines, jail time, loss of drivers’ licences and other consequences for laying “siege” to the national capital and illegally cutting off Canada’s key economic arteries.

Ford’s cabinet was to meet on the weekend and consider legislative changes his government plans to introduce to toughen the penalties.

All this is to be applauded. But Ford’s performance evoked nothing so much as the quote usually attributed to Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin, a leader of the French revolution of 1848: “There go the people. I must follow them, for I am their leader.”

Not only are they salivating over more government over reach they won’t let a good crisis go to waste. So why not savage the premier, who deserved all he gets. Who knows, they may to aiming for more Ray days or whoever is leading the ndp or hey the liberals.
