There are two rules for illiberal democracy.
The first rule is that during an emergency certain illiberal and anti-democratic measures are necessary to ensure public safety, national security, and the practice of democracy itself.
The second rule is that there is always an emergency.
With the horrifying massacres in El Paso and Dayton, political entrepreneurs already are taking recourse to the tenets of illiberal democracy. But because this is the United States, and the most powerful nation in the world is governed by criminals, miscreants, and morons, illiberal democracy is not the scoundrels’ last recourse — it is their first recourse.
Cory Booker, trafficker in absurd racial conspiracy theories, is a great practitioner of illiberal democracy. In response to the shootings over the weekend, he demanded that . . . Republican campaign rallies be canceled as a public-safety measure. President Donald Trump’s rallies, he insists without anything that might plausibly be described as evidence, “inspire white nationalist attacks like the one in El Paso on Saturday.” Somehow, the pursuit of public safety always ends up disadvantaging the other party’s political efforts. One might be forgiven for failing to take Senator Booker seriously, for this and for many other reasons.

Look no further than the panic in Times Square yesterday or the day before prompted by a backfiring motorcycle. America is being driven mad. The Democrats and their disgustingly partisan MSM are driving America the very edge of the precipice. Their game plan, fabricating outrageous and horrific lies and the media feeding them to an increasingly anxious and fearful citizenry via hysterical talking heads in the media 24/7. Lies are scaring the bejesus out of the citizenry are achieving the desired results. There is an explosion coming if this doesn’t stop. An explosion is exactly what the Dems want. For them it is all 2020. The progressive left cannot win on policy because they don’t have any. At least any that will benefit America. It is both sickening and frightening actually what they are doing and getting away with unchallenged by the media that is supposed to be honestly informing the public. The media of who, what, when, where and why is dead and buried. That fact pretty much applies to most of the west in general, and that includes right here in Canada. Two things must happen in the next short while if America is to be saved from becoming a lawless and (except for the elites) socialist hell hole. First the DOJ must restore the rule of law with an iron fist. The includes draining the corrupt swamps of the FBI, DOJ, CIA, and NSA. Second, if voters don’t relieve Democrats of absolutely every single vestige of power in 2020 the country will be lost and it won’t be coming back for a generation, if ever. As goes America so eventually goes Canada. Make no mistake about that.

This is one of the two great lies of our time — the other being that all Trump supporters are racists — and perhaps in all of American history. I cannot think of a lie of such significance that was held as truth by so many Americans, by every leading politician of one of the two major political parties and disseminated by virtually the entire media.

This has been one of the most hectic and disturbing news cycles I can remember.
I never thought I’d say this during the Trump era because things are always so crazy, but this week was different. A line was crossed by the media and there’s no going back.
