The revelation of yet another escape by a patient of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) forensic unit is “disturbing,” Premier Doug Ford says.

“People have to answer when there’s an issue and the same with the TPS (Toronto Police Service)  – there’s no secret I love the police – but people have dropped the ball and we have to correct this issue,” Ford said Tuesday. “It’s kind of nerve-wracking for a lot of people out in Toronto.”

Ahmed Sualim, 27, who was found not criminally responsible for armed robberies in 2012, was reported missing Monday morning and was picked up by Toronto Police later that day.

The police identified Sualim as a public safety risk when notifying the public of his disappearance.

His escape came just days after the public learned that Zhebin Cong, who was found not criminally responsible in the meat cleaver hacking death of his roommate, had fled CAMH and boarded a plane for China.

In that case, the public was not informed for 11 days after he failed to return to the CAMH forensic unit.
