The Republican senators and House members who are affecting to sorta-maybe-not really believe in the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election are participating in a knowing fraud. They know — and you can know — they are participating in a fraud by their actions, namely their proposed remedy: a fantasy ten-day “audit” of the results supposedly modeled on the 1876 Electoral Commission. Such a plan is illegal, a deep infringement on the states, but also time-limited not to interfere with what they know will happen — the inauguration of Joe Biden as president on January 20.
The president’s legal team, gifted with incredible resources by campaign donors and other saps, has been unable to turn up anything to substantiate its claims of material election fraud. There is nothing in the voter rolls, no suspected perps, and no witnesses ready to testify in court (which is a different thing from testifying in a hotel ballroom) to material fraud. There is only a tape — doctored by Rudy Giuliani — and various theories and extrapolations.
You can tell these Republicans are lying because of what they say. There is no “unprecedented evidence” of voter fraud to talk about, so Senator Ted Cruz has premised this farce of an audit on the “unprecedented accusations” of voter fraud.
Sure! An unprecedented amount of piss sprayed on enough legs might sell a few umbrellas, too. The only problem is when the customers figure out your game, turn around, and beat you to death with them.
What is the effect of “raising questions” this way, and speaking out for Americans who don’t trust the results of the election? First it gives permission to continue doubting the results and denying the evidence before our eyes. Second, and surely this is the effect — it allows second- and third-order demagogues and conspiracy theorists on social media to put you in a good light. A prominent QAnon-style conspiracy theorist whose posts are viral on Instagram suggested to followers that the protests aimed at Senator Hawley’s family residence were part of an ongoing attempt to assassinate and kill Republicans who are standing up in the secret war against the Biden coup. The elected Republicans who died of COVID before being seated are casualties of this ongoing dirty war, dontcha know.

Watch:
In the United States, the use of deadly force by sworn law enforcement officers is lawful when the officer reasonably believes the subject poses a significant threat of serious bodily injury or death to themselves or others.
First though some context. A police officer (firefighters or EMTs included) rushing to a life and death incident with red lights and siren. While enroute the driver runs a red light, broadsides a vehicle and injures of kills somebody. No matter the good intentions, there are ample examples of criminal case law in both the USA and Canada wherein no matter the urgency of the call the courts found the driver criminally negligent. Now, having pointed out that truth here’s another one…
A visibly unarmed person in a well lit circumstance, in unobstructed view, let alone a physically unimposing young woman wearing an America flag like a cape, cannot justifiably be shot by police just for climbing through a window. Excuses being offered up for this shooting such as the officer was over zealous, or scared are not a defence. Any first year law student should be aware of that simple fact of law. This officer appears to be criminally negligent. Now, having pointed out that truth here’s another one…
Months and months of countless incidents of police facing violent mobs of Antifa and BLM as they burned American cities to the ground. Murdering private business owns for attempting to defend their private property. Murdering Trump supporters. Police shot execution style or having Molotov cocktails thrown inside their patrol cars with them inside. Trying to barricade police inside a building and then setting it on fire hopefully to burn them alive. Police having life altering permanent vision destroying lasers shone in their eyes. Police severely injured after being struck by bricks. Frozen water bottles. Clubs. You name it right even down to garbage can lids. Yet how many of these police attackers who were clearly, unquestioningly, undeniably intending to cause significant serious bodily injury or death got shot by police? NONE.
Despite the Dems and the media’s unspoken but unmistakable ‘they got what they deserved’ reaction. Not for what they had done but for who they were. Deplorable human beings all 4. Jack, you are exactly right. “In my mind there is no difference between what happened to that innocent young woman yesterday and the ugly administration that shot and killed Neda Soltani in Iran many years ago.”
Ashli Babbit is now a gold star member of that exclusive club ‘all gave some some gave all.” Just like Neda Soltani, Ashli Babbit (keep saying her name over and over, never forget it) is also a martyr by very definition. Moving right along..
The definition – “In order to qualify as a Purple Heart recepient veterans must be entitled to and/or receiving military retired pay. Have a 10% disability rating.
The justification – Including qualifying as a veteran. Ashli Bobbit is 100% dead. She gave her life in ‘combat’ with a domestic enemy.
Before January 20th Trump (not could) SHOULD do what is right. Recognize these ‘some gave all’ sacrifices. Bonus, at the same time set the left’s hair on fire. I don’t know the circumstances regarding the other 3 deaths but for sure Ashli Bobbit because she is a U.S. Air Force veteran. A captain who served on 4 missions with the Air Force. Ashli Bobbit died in combat. Obama had a pen and a phone and used it whenever wherever the hell he wanted ignoring precedent or the law. Obama doesn’t have a patent on setting precedence. Trump also has a pen and a phone.
Award Ashli Babbit a Purple Heart, Mr. President. She has earned it. As for the other three civilians who gave all? If they also were not posing significant serious bodily injury or death at the time of their deaths award them each the civilian equivalent of the Purple Heart. The Defense of Freedom medal.
Do it President Trump! “So let it be written, so let it be done”.
