The public is rightly skeptical of the political class telling them to stay home, that would just be ‘for a few weeks’ and we’re all in this together — all while they’re jetting off to a beach.
So when Global Canada proposes we adopt a “Canadian Shield” approach to defeat COVID, I don’t think they’ll find a warm reception.
The Montreal-based think tank first proposed working towards a “Covid Zero” strategy in October.
Two weeks ago, they released their report on how they think we can get there.
I’ll be blunt, it would be painful to follow this advice … and it might not even work.
For a start, they invoke following the model of Australia.
