
The remaining Manitoban hospitalized due to COVID-19 has been released from hospital, public health officials said on Saturday as the province began easing restrictions further on businesses in Manitoba.
In early April, there were 12 individuals hospitalized including six in intensive care. It has been almost a week since the last patient was released from intensive care.
Public health officials announced no new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, leaving the total number of lab-confirmed positive and probable positive cases in Manitoba at 292. The update was announced in a press release as public health officials did not hold a formal briefing.
There are currently 17 active cases and 268 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. The number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at seven.
On Friday, almost 600 laboratory tests were performed, bringing the total number of tests performed since early February to 37,870.
On Wednesday, the province announced that portions of the Phase 2 reopening plan would soon be implemented. As of Friday, public health orders were modified to increase the limit on gathering size to no more than 25 people for indoor premises and 50 for outdoor areas, providing social distancing measures are in place. Other changes such as an expansion of the types of businesses that can reopen are being discussed and more details will be announced once those decisions are made, it was announced.
