NIGEL FARAGE warned some EU countries will face “mass civil unrest” and even a “revolution” as he called for the European project to end in a prophetic speech almost four years before Britain voted to leave the bloc.
The EU is taking unprecedented action to help its members endure the massive economic shock of the coronavirus pandemic. However, some nations, including Germany and the Netherlands, are resisting the idea of shared borrowing to cover the heavy costs, suggesting that even during this crisis there are limits to solidarity in a bloc that is trying to reaffirm itself after Brexit. In a recent interview for Sky News Australia, Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage said the EU will not be able to come back from the coronavirus crisis.
He said: “Thank goodness we are not in, what is going to be after this, an even more German-dominated EU.
“We may have our problems but we are free.”
Host Rowan Dean responded: “It has taken just one nanoparticle, one virus, to expose how hopelessly useless the EU is.”
Despite never winning a seat as a British MP in the House of Commons, Mr Farage’s battle against Brussels has been long-running.
In 2012, the Brexit Party leader was already campaigning to end the project and even issued a prophetic warning.
