The war of words between Doug Ford and John Tory is heating up.
Just a day after the mayor penned a letter to the premier, and every other PC MPP representing part of Toronto, where he detailed what public health cuts could mean, Ford responded.
The premier restated the province’s position that cuts to Toronto Public Health are nowhere near $1 billion over 10 years figure claimed by the city.
“Our government has budgeted $114 million in funding for Toronto Public Health this year, an adjustment of $33 million,” Ford wrote.
“That means that if you decide to fund this pressure, you would be required to re-allocate just 0.24% of your overall budget.”
Tory had written earlier to say that the province had not provided a clear breakdown in the funding changes.
City projections were that the change in the funding formula would cost the city $64 million in the current year and close to $1 billion over the next 10 years.
