Illegal cannabis market alive and well – what’s next?
Although there isn’t a silver bullet, provinces must fill the current safety and security void that exists in the cannabis supply chain.
Although there isn’t a silver bullet, provinces must fill the current safety and security void that exists in the cannabis supply chain.

It turns out legalizing recreational cannabis in Canada was easier said than done.

Trying to convert a market from illicit to regulated was done in the name of health and public safety with the added benefit of tax revenue. The conversion has introduced new challenges.

Having spent my career in law enforcement, drug policy, and trade, I recognize it must be a journey where all stakeholders contribute.

As policymakers shift between models of cannabis distribution (government-run vs. private sector, online vs. bricks-and-mortar), Canadian law enforcement entities work to ensure products are authentic; regulators grapple with compliance and strict production and marketing rules for licensed operators; and health authorities focus on ensuring products are safe.

The introduction of edible and infused products presents new challenges for protecting the public, such as complexities around safety as THC and CBD is mixed with different types of food and consumer products.

By Canadians giving Trudeau a minority government they were clearly putting him on probation. Well, just a few short months into his probationary period he has failed. Catastrophically. So the question that begs an answer is, a couple actually. Why have the opposition not risen up for the Canadian people and brought this train wreck to a merciful (for Canada) end? Along with the opposition parties why haven’t the LPC themselves, on behalf of the Canadian people, stood up and demanded his resignation. Every MP in the HOC can see first hand the destruction this stuttering stammering Imbecile is inflicting on our country. Why are they not speaking for Canada? Okay, easy answer. Because they are as corrupted by party politics and adherence to agenda no matter come hell, high water or an economy in ruins that they are paralyzed.

‘Canada is broken,’ say majority of Canadians in poll taken in wake of rail blockades

In a time of widespread disagreement and ever-increasing polarization, there remains a bitter solidarity among Canadians in the belief that the government doesn’t know what it’s doing.

In the wake of regional discontent from the western provinces and blockades jamming up the country’s rail network, a towering majority of Canadians agree with the statement, “Right now, Canada is broken.”

Sixty-nine per cent of Canadians agree with the statement, rising to 83% in Alberta, found a DART & Maru/Blue poll conducted for the National Post.
